The PSOE's Secretary of Organization, Rebeca Torró, granted an interview this Friday to 'Las mañanas de RNE' where she spoke about the latest report from Hacienda and the Central Operative Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard that implicate the partner of the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. In this context, she criticized the "silence" of the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, accusing him of "not daring to say anything" because of how the former 'popular' leader Pablo Casado was handled.
In relation to the information about the regional president's boyfriend, Alberto González Amador, she highlighted that the case "has no name" and stated that Ayuso "is not only working for the privatization of public services at the expense of the people of Madrid," but for a "family business model" in which Amador was invoicing "millions."
For this reason, Torró expressed the "incoherence and hypocrisy of the PP while they demand accountability from the PSOE" and defended the PSOE's actions, insisting that they acted immediately by dismissing the Secretary of Organization, while she believes that Feijóo "does not dare to say anything because he already knows how Casado ended up."
Confidence in Zapatero's presumption of innocence
The PSOE spokesperson, Montse Mínguez, appeared live in an interview with the TVE program, La hora de la 1, where she was asked about the leaked audios of the declaration of former socialist president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero. In this regard, she reiterated support for the former president and criticized that "judicial times with the left are faster than with the right." In turn, she pointed out the "double standard" depending on which party is being investigated and that they are "tired of leaks."
The socialist, asked about the audio leak, stated: "That is what we socialists are seeing: there are leaks that are investigated, leaks that are not investigated, and we are not playing with the same cards or with the same rules of the game, and that there is this double standard." In the same way, she criticized the leader of the main opposition party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, highlighting that he shows "weakness" by not presenting a motion of no confidence.
Sánchez shows his support for the former president
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has once again reiterated his support and confidence in the former socialist president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero after the decision of judge José Luis Calama to summon his two daughters, Alba and Laura Rodríguez Espinosa, and his secretary, Gertrudis Alcázar, as investigated parties, within the framework of the Plus Ultra case and after the statement issued by Zapatero.
In this regard, at the European summit in Brussels, Sánchez defended that he shares the three central ideas of the statement: proclamation of innocence, respect for Justice, and confidence that everything can be clarified. The president assured that he has spoken with the former president “these days” and that he has personally conveyed that support. “We trust in his innocence,” he stressed, before adding that Zapatero has the “backing, empathy, and support” both from him and from the organization he leads, the Socialist Party.
Sánchez also referred to the indictment of Alba and Laura Rodríguez Espinosa, daughters of the former president, and his secretary, Gertrudis Alcázar, agreed by judge José Luis Calama at the request of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office. Sánchez avoided going into the merits of the case and insisted on the presumption of innocence, but he did want to emphasize the personal dimension of the moment Zapatero's family is going through: “We empathize with the situation his family is currently experiencing with the indictment of his daughters.”
