The Regional Committee of the PSRM-PSOE unanimously approved this Wednesday the proposed candidacy for the Cortes Generales for the elections on November 29, a list that places María González Veracruz at the head of the candidacy for Congress and Irene Jódar as the head of the list for the Senate.

The proposal, as reported by the PSRM-PSOE, will now be sent to the Federal List Commission and the PSOE Federal Committee, which must give it final approval on October 17.

María González Veracruz, at the head of the list for Congress

The socialist candidacy for Murcia for the Congress of Deputies will be headed by María González Veracruz, followed by Miguel Ángel Ortega Pérez, Caridad Rives Arcayna, Carlos López Martínez, María Adela García Navarro, Pedro Fernando Muñoz Jiménez, Elena Casado Navarro, Santiago del Álamo Moral, Beatriz Pintón Riesgo and José Pérez Giménez.

In the Senate section, the party places Irene Jódar as the head of the list, within a proposal that the party will submit to the federal bodies to complete the internal process.

Francisco Lucas vindicates the Government's management

The general secretary of the PSRM-PSOE, Francisco Lucas, defended during his speech that “I don't want our sons and daughters to grow up in a country where poverty is inherited; I want them to grow up in a country where no one has to choose between paying rent and filling the fridge.”

Lucas also called for public healthcare and quality education, as well as decent pensions and opportunities for young people, in statements released by the party itself.

The socialist leader maintained that the Region of Murcia “has a lot at stake” in the November 29 elections and defended the management of Pedro Sánchez's Government during the last eight years. In that balance, he estimated the investment destined to recover the Mar Menor at 700 million euros, the one oriented to the railway at 3,000 million, and the one aimed at reinforcing desalination at another 700 million.

Housing, evictions and criticism of PP and Vox

Lucas placed access to housing among the main problems of the country and appealed to the case of Maricarmen, an 87-year-old woman affected by an eviction, stating that “a system that evicts an 87-year-old woman from her home is a system that has failed.”

He also alluded to the actions of the Government Delegation to prevent evictions, among them those of Antonia and Vanesa, two disabled neighbors from Alcantarilla.

The general secretary of the PSRM-PSOE also criticized the PP and Vox for voting against the housing decrees in Congress and accused them of prioritizing the interests of investment funds over those of families and young people.

Likewise, he warned that the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and that of Vox, Santiago Abascal, have proposed measures that, in his opinion, would entail cuts in rights. Among them, he cited proposals related to the public pension system and greater participation of mutual societies in the management of sick leave.

Call for electoral participation

Lucas closed his speech with a call for mobilization for November 29, emphasizing that “the future is not written, we all write it together.” “Let no one stay home. Let no one think their vote doesn't matter. Let no one take the result for granted before the polls open. May the strength of the people fill the ballot boxes next November 29,” he demanded.
