The protests against the visit of the ultra agitator Vito Quiles to Bilbao mark this Monday, October 26, the university day. The first student call is set for 12:00 PM in Elíptica square, while for 4:00 PM, rejection mobilizations have been announced in Deusto. The morning call includes a student strike promoted by Ikasle Sindikatua.
The Socialist Movement has also called for protests under the slogan "Against fascist provocateurs, class unity". In its call, it argues that Quiles intends to go to Bilbao to provoke and divert attention from working-class problems, among which it mentions access to housing. Likewise, it denounces that these acts contribute to normalizing discourses it considers classist, sexist, racist, and Spanish nationalist.
Quiles's presence is expected this afternoon, although the available information does not specify the exact place and time of his appearance, as communicated by the ultra through his social networks. The agitator's visit is part of the tour he is carrying out in several universities across the country. So far, all his visits have been rejected and have ended in altercations.
¡Nos vemos mañana en Bilbao! La kale borroka no va a lograr acabar con las libertades de los vascos que son los más españoles y patriotas. https://t.co/VJTC5z8dJH

Deusto interrupts classes and closes the premises
The University of Deusto has decided to suspend all academic activity on its Bilbao campus from 2:00 p.m. and preventively close the facilities an hour later. The measure has been adopted in coordination with the Ertzaintza and following their instructions to protect students, teachers, and university staff.
The institution has clarified that it does not organize or endorse the planned concentration, nor has it authorized its celebration within the campus. The closure will mean the interruption of classes and other activities during the afternoon.
The UAB precedent: an unauthorized call
The mobilizations in Bilbao come after the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona denied Quiles permission to carry out an activity on its premises on Monday, October 19.
The university communicated its decision to the Department of Interior of the Generalitat and requested collaboration to avoid tense situations. Interior assured that it would prevent the agitator from accessing the campus if he tried to enter. That episode corresponds to last week, not to this Monday's call in Bilbao.
