The Sumar Movement has new leadership: Verónica Martínez Barbero and Rosa Martínez face the new stage of the formation with more than 95% of the votes

Movimiento Sumar has begun a new stage after the election of Verónica Martínez Barbero and Rosa Martínez as the top leaders of the organization. The joint candidacy presented by both received the majority support of the extraordinary assembly held this Saturday, where it obtained more than 95% of the votes cast by the party's delegates.

The new leaders take over after the departure of Lara Hernández, who left the coordination of the formation at the beginning of July. With this renewal, Sumar maintains the previously approved shared leadership model and seeks to consolidate an internal structure that allows it to face the political challenges of the coming years.

The assembly also gave the green light to the new political and organizational document of the party, supported by a large majority of attendees. In it, the formation analyzes the impact that the judicial controversies affecting its government partners have had and raises the possibility of reaching specific agreements with other progressive and independentist forces to promote common objectives.

In addition, Movimiento Sumar approved several resolutions aimed at strengthening cooperation with other left-wing actors and agreed to create a Territorial Council to increase its presence in the autonomous communities. The new leadership takes command in a context marked by internal tensions in recent months and while the Sumar coalition prepares its reorganization for the general elections scheduled for 2027.

PSOE-M validates the candidacies of Maroto and López for the Madrid primaries

The PSOE of Madrid confirmed this Saturday that Reyes Maroto and Enma López will compete in the primaries that will decide who will be the socialist candidate for Mayor of the capital in the 2027 municipal elections. Both candidates have managed to gather the support required by the party to formalize their participation in the internal process.

The minimum number required was 823 endorsements, equivalent to 15% of the socialist militancy in Madrid city. However, the definitive proclamation of the candidacies will be pending the review and final validation of the documentation presented.
