The criminal case against singer Francisco González advances after his statement. The artist appeared to testify as investigated for an alleged crime of non-payment of alimony to Denia Apolinar last Wednesday, May 20, at Instruction Court No. 33 of Barcelona.
It was before the judge where Francisco declared his inability to face the alimony imposed by Justice, an amount that would amount to 500 euros per month. The singer, according to consulted sources, assured in court that his economy is going through a bad patch, among other reasons due to the scarcity of concerts he would be performing. Furthermore, to make clear what his economic situation is, he underlined that he has an eviction lawsuit. This is what I have reported this very Sunday on the program ‘D Corazón’. Given the relevance of the information, this media outlet has contacted the singer without obtaining a response.
We have also learned that Denia Apolinar's legal team has filed a procedural brief requesting the court to require the defendant to provide said eviction lawsuit. Likewise, it demands proof of the companies through which he receives payments for his concerts, as well as receipts for payments made. The court would have accepted said petition and Francisco would have seven days —until next Wednesday, May 27— to present the required documentation.
"It should be remembered that, when you are a party to a proceeding, you are not obliged to tell the truth," recalls lawyer Ari Margiotta, from the MHM Legal firm. Likewise, she emphasizes the importance of Francisco providing the requested documentation: "If he does not do so or does not provide the contact information of the person or entity from whom to request it, it would be a mere allegation, but it would not have probative force due to lacking documentary support".
Throughout the statement, Francisco would have refused to answer the prosecution's questions, responding only to those asked by his lawyer. Once inside the courtroom, he would have noticed the presence of photojournalists at the door of Instruction Court No. 33 of Barcelona, so he would have been allowed to leave the building through a secondary door.
The reaction of Denia Apolinar
After learning the content of Francisco's statement, we contacted Denia Apolinar, who appears “very indignant”: “Francisco is indeed working, I don't know why he says he isn't. And where is the money from all the concerts? Even he himself says that this year he has performances”.
So much so that, on the singer's website, up to eight performances between February and September of this very year can be counted. Even so, the amounts he would receive for them are unknown. Despite this, Apolinar assures “to trust in Justice” and expresses her desire for “everything to end now, because it's been many years with the same thing. I am not an opportunist, I just want justice to be done. I have tried to reach agreements and he has not wanted to”.
It should be remembered that the conflict between Francisco and Denia Apolinar dates back to 2001, when it became public that the dancer had had a daughter with the singer and, since then, the artist has denied paternity. “This girl is my daughter because the law says so. I didn't do the tests at the time and I regret it, honestly. Yes. But now, however much I wanted to do them, the situation would not change. Once condemned and judged there is no turning back, even if the DNA and the true father of this girl appeared,” Francisco declared barely a month ago to this outlet. Although there were attempts at agreement, as we exclusively revealed last April, everything has finally resulted in a legal battle.
