Esther Palomera defended on the program Malas Lenguas the idea that the political opposition to the Government is “very weak”, which, in her opinion, opens space for other forms of institutional influence.

In that analysis, the collaborator stated that “the one who is truly exercising the opposition in this country for months is the Judiciary”, a reflection that she framed in recent judicial decisions with high media impact.

Palomera also enumerated three “warnings” that, according to her interpretation, would have reached the Executive: “The first warning was the conviction of the Attorney General of the State…”, she pointed out, also alluding to a second and third episode linked to resolutions of the Supreme Court and decisions of Judge Peinado. “The second warning”, according to her interpretation, refers to the recent Supreme Court ruling on Víctor de Aldama, which, in her reading, would convey the message that “anyone who wants to denounce, with or without evidence, should go through the appropriate window, because they will not have any prison sentence”.

Regarding the “third warning”, Palomera alludes to Judge Peinado's decision to withdraw the passport of the Prime Minister's wife, a measure she interprets as a message of greater political scope. From there, the journalist concludes that this set of decisions could convey the idea that “either you leave or your family will end up in prison”, according to her development of the thesis.

The journalist clarified that in Spain there are thousands of judges who act with independence and rigor, although she warned that certain resolutions from higher instances are fueling a debate about the credibility of the judicial system.
