The device deployed to combat the forest fire in Soneja, in the province of Castellón, has been reinforced this Monday with the incorporation of twelve aerial assets since early morning. The objective is to contain a fire that started on Sunday and has already affected around 150 hectares, in addition to reaching a limited area of the Sierra de Espadán natural park.

According to the Generalitat Valenciana, regional planes and helicopters are participating in the tasks, along with several aircraft sent by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. During the night, ground teams have focused their efforts on consolidating the perimeter and preventing the flames from advancing towards the municipality of Azuébar, one of the most sensitive points of the emergency.

The evolution of the fire will be analyzed in a new meeting of the Advanced Command Post scheduled for this morning, which will be attended by representatives of the main administrations. On Sunday, more than 200 personnel and 17 aerial assets worked in the area after the fire broke out in the early afternoon. The intensity of the smoke and the rapid spread forced the evacuation of about 500 people from Azuébar, some of whom were temporarily housed in Segorbe.

Meanwhile, in Navarra, the vegetation fire registered in Imárcoain has been stabilized after causing significant disruptions in communications. The fire forced the interruption of traffic on the AP-15 highway and also affected rail traffic. However, during the night, normality was progressively restored on both the road and the train line, once safety conditions were verified.

The fire declared in Loporzano, in the province of Huesca, also shows a positive evolution. Authorities declared the fire stabilized during the early hours of this Monday, after devastating about 200 hectares of land. Of that surface, about 30 hectares correspond to the Sierra y los Cañones de Guara Natural Park, one of the most prominent protected areas of Aragon.
