The chief of staff of the Presidency of the Community of Madrid, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez (MAR), is being investigated for allegedly having leaked personal data of two journalists from ‘El País’. In his last statement, before entering the courthouse, he told the media that it was "an angry neighbor" who sent him the photograph of the journalists from the outlet. However, minutes later he pointed to Alberto González Amador, the partner of the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, as the one who sent him the photos of the two journalists.
In this regard, Ayuso's partner went to court yesterday as a witness, where he ratified MAR's version. However, he did not provide his mobile phone conversations to verify his statement, because, he alleged that his phone was "hacked." Nevertheless, this Wednesday, as reported in 'Mañaneros 360', he returned to court to expand his statement and in this case, he asserted that it was he who deleted his conversations as a precaution after his lawyers were hacked.
In this context, according to the order to which this media had access, the Investigating Judge nº 25 of Madrid agreed to take a statement as a witness from Alberto González Amador in preliminary proceedings 346/2025, in the case for alleged revelation of secrets by a public official affecting Miguel Ángel Rodríguez. In contrast, she rejected the rest of the evidence requested by the PSOE, including the analysis of the investigated person's mobile phone, the investigation of his telephone lines, and several official requests to the National Police and other organizations, considering them unnecessary, useless, or disproportionate.
In her order, the magistrate maintained that the useful diligence for the investigation is the statement of the witness who, according to the investigated person, would have provided him with part of the information disseminated in a message to a journalists' chat. The court understands that there are already sufficient elements regarding the sending and content of that message and that the other evidence would not provide new or decisive data to clarify the facts.
Initially, the case against MAR was dismissed, but it was reopened by the Provincial Court on the understanding that the data had been obtained by a bodyguard of the Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and it is desired to know: how, when, and why that data reached MAR.
The journalists from the newspaper ‘El País’, who were conducting the investigation into the case of the partner of the Madrid president, Alberto González Amador, were in the vicinity of a building in Madrid where Isabel Díaz Ayuso resides with Amador. The journalists were identified and searched by agents of the Brigade assigned to the Community of Madrid.
The PSOE requested in its complaint that Rodríguez be summoned as an investigated party and that his mobile phone be analyzed. In addition, it requested that the two journalists whose data were disclosed be identified, so that they could be summoned as witnesses and be given the opportunity to take action as affected parties. Likewise, the socialists included in the complaint a subsequent interview with Ayuso's chief of staff, in ‘El Mundo’, in which he admitted having made said leak, “because they were harassing Ayuso's neighbors.”
