The PP spokesperson in Congress, Ester Muñoz, this Thursday called to vote against Pedro Sánchez in the general elections on November 29 and defended that Alberto Núñez Feijóo should lead a new political stage. During a visit to a footwear factory in Elda, Alicante, the popular leader assured that removing the president from institutions is a "moral duty".

Muñoz presented Feijóo as the alternative to "lift Spain up again", recover public services, and rebuild infrastructures, including railway ones. The deputy focused a good part of her speech on the crisis opened after the Urda train accident in Toledo, and the resignation of Óscar Puente as Minister of Transport.

"It is possible to have a project of hope, but, in addition, a moral obligation must be taken into account next November 29," she stated to the media. The spokesperson called to take advantage of the election to end the "wall" that, in her opinion, Sánchez has built between Spaniards.

The PP leader has maintained that the latest railway tragedies show problems in infrastructure and has accused the Executive of offering worse public services. "We have had to see, with a new railway tragedy, how transport does not work, infrastructure does not work, public services do not work," she said.

In her criticisms, she included both Puente and his predecessor at the head of Transport, José Luis Ábalos, and defended that public management requires responsible individuals with technical knowledge and attention to citizens' problems.

Criticism of Puente after his resignation

Muñoz questioned Puente's departure, announced this Tuesday at the end of his appearance before the Permanent Deputation of Congress regarding the Urda accident. The popular spokesperson maintains that the decision responded to the PSOE's electoral desgaste and not to an assumption of responsibility for the victims. This is the PP's political interpretation of the former minister's motives.

The deputy also criticized the published information about the messages exchanged between Puente and Sánchez before the announcement. "Everything is part of a theater and a circus," she stated, and reproached the Government for a lack of empathy with the affected families.

The Urda accident left 69 people dead and occurred nine months after the Adamuz railway collision, in Córdoba, where 46 people died. Muñoz also mentioned the Gelida accident, in Barcelona, which occurred in January on the Rodalies network. Investigations must clarify the causes and possible responsibilities of each accident.

Asked about the railway situation, the spokesperson explained that she traveled to Alicante by car because, she said, the situation does not make her feel at ease. She also recalled that her party had been demanding audits and a security plan for the network.

During her speech, she stated that 73% of high-speed rail deaths worldwide have occurred in Spain in nine months, although she did not explain what source, complete period, or definition of high-speed rail she uses for that calculation. Therefore, the figure alone does not allow for a conclusive international comparison.

Feijóo and the promise of "reconstruction"

Muñoz has also linked the management problems he attributes to the Government with the lack of new General State Budgets. Spain operates in 2026 with extended accounts; the extension allows the budget to remain in force, although it makes it difficult to adapt the items to new needs and priorities.

For the PP spokesperson, new accounts and a "serious and rigorous" Government are needed. In this context, she has questioned whether Sánchez can form a majority capable of approving budgets after 29N and has defended the change proposed by her party.

Muñoz has presented the experience of Alberto Núñez Feijóo at the head of the Xunta de Galicia as a guarantee of his management capacity. "Feijóo is going to come to do what he already knows how to do, what he has already done, what he has already demonstrated," she maintained, before assuring that the popular leader "comes to serve the Spanish people and not to serve himself".
