The leader of the PP and candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has assured that, if he manages to govern after the general elections on November 29, he will present his first General State Budgets (PGE) in the spring of 2027 and, at the end of that same year, he will also present the public accounts for 2028.

In an interview on Antena 3, Feijóo defended that the country needs a "national reconstruction" and stressed that his party has government experience, teams, and management capacity. "We are a state party, we know how to manage. We have done it. We have government experience. We have teams," he affirmed.

"Doing the accounts and not living on fairy tales"

The president of the PP insisted that, if he assumes the responsibility of governing, he will prepare two budget projects in 2027. "I will present the 2027 Budget in the spring of 2027, and by the last quarter of 2027, I will present the 2028 Budget," he explained, while reproaching Pedro Sánchez's Government for having gone "three and a half years without presenting any."

Feijóo pointed out that his public accounts will prioritize the "maintenance and conservation of railways and highways," and defended that this requires a party that has prepared PGE. "For that, a party that has made the General State Budgets is needed, and that is why I believe that Spaniards will extend their trust in us," he said, in an implicit allusion to Vox.

In that vein, he insisted that national reconstruction involves "doing the accounts and not living on fairy tales" and warned: "Either you have a party that has made PGE or you will get into right-wing Sanchismo again. I am not going to do that Sanchismo."

Defense, public services and "the truth of the accounts"

Asked about the commitment to increase spending on Defense, the PP leader replied that he is committed to "making public services viable" and to telling "the truth of the accounts" and expenses. "The truth of the real expenditure and the expenditure committed for the following fiscal years. And I will say, based on all this, the percentage of expenditure that I can spend on Defense. What can be spent in Spain. And if it is 2, or 2.6 or 3.1, I will say that," he stated.

Feijóo stressed that he will not question the functioning of public services "much less" for raising a few more tenths in Defense. "I am not going to lie to people," he maintained.

Criticism of the unions' strike and subsidies

Regarding the general strike called for November 11, Feijóo considered it an "error" that affects the reputation of the unions themselves. "Having warned of the error, if they persist in it, it will be their responsibility," he said, adding later that what is needed now is "unity, elections, and voting."

Asked if he would cut subsidies to unions, as Vox proposes, the popular leader assured that he does not know what they receive. However, when asked about the increase from 8 to 24 million during Pedro Sánchez's mandate, he affirmed that, "if that is the case," he would like to know why unions need to triple these aids and the same does not happen with the budget for public services.

Message to PSOE voters and commitment to rights

Feijóo maintained that, to PSOE voters, he would tell them that if he governs he will not build "any wall," because he believes "in bridges." As he explained, he wants to focus on "what is important" and regain respect, leaving aside disqualification. "My guarantee is my political biography," he stated.

He also assured that his goal for next year is to "present" and "approve" two budgets, and added that this would even benefit socialist militants. "And that will be good for PSOE militants because perhaps if we had a budget we would not have had the 115 dead plus the injured," he pointed out, referring to the Urda accident.

In relation to LGTBI rights and abortion, Feijóo assured that they will not be questioned if he governs with Vox, stressing that there are already coalition governments with that party in several autonomous communities and that "none of those things" have been questioned. "And therefore I guarantee them," he promised.

Morocco, Ceuta and migration policy

After the massive entry of migrants into Ceuta at the end of July, the PP president defended the return of minors and adults to Morocco and warned that "the invasion that has been provoked by action or omission" by the neighboring country "cannot be repeated." In his opinion, that situation "does not admit compromises."

Feijóo reiterated that he would maintain a relationship of "good neighborliness" and "loyalty" with Morocco, but also "firmness," and stressed that he would not negotiate Spain's territorial integrity if he reaches La Moncloa Palace.

Likewise, he criticized Pedro Sánchez for going on vacation after the massive jump into Ceuta or even releasing "a list of songs." "The frivolities we have experienced these years seem like something out of a comic book, they constantly seem like Gila jokes," he concluded.
