The leader of the Popular Party and candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has given his "word" this Monday to fulfill more than a dozen electoral promises regarding housing, pensions, and immigration, in an event where he presented his proposal under the title of "Contract with Spain" and in which he once again set a "national reconstruction" in the country as an objective.

Before dozens of PP officials gathered at the Espacio de Larra, in Madrid, Feijóo has maintained that he will not "fail" Spaniards if they vote for him in the elections on November 29, and has defended that each commitment assumed will be part of a direct agreement with citizens.

"Every word is my contract with Spaniards"

"My greatest ambition is to ensure that the word of a President of the Government once again has value. Therefore, I assure you that every word, every proposal, and every commitment I make is my contract with Spaniards," proclaimed the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, during his speech.

The popular leader insisted that his proposal is not limited to a change in La Moncloa, but rather proposes, according to his approach, a "change of stage" and a "new era with truth, law, effort, and unity". In this framework, he garnered the applause of those present, at an event where there were no PP flags, but only the flag of Spain and that of the European Union.

Housing, pensions, immigration, and the State

Among the announced commitments, Alberto Núñez Feijóo cited the defense of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Spain, the improvement of the quality of democracy, the strengthening of the separation of powers, the cleansing and strengthening of the State, the construction of one million new homes, the regulation of immigration, and the guarantee of pension revaluation.

Furthermore, he has promised that the train will once again be "a national pride", has announced investments in water infrastructure to face floods and droughts, and has assured that, under his project, there will be more doctors, a demanding education with better results, safer streets, lower taxes, and an increase in the average salary of Spaniards.

Criticism of violence and call to vote in democracy

During his speech, the president of the PP also alluded to the protests registered this weekend in France, images that, he said, worry him because they "demonstrate that the violence that radical left is encouraging is never the way to improve a nation".

At that point, Alberto Núñez Feijóo defended that Spaniards have the opportunity to move away from that scenario and to express their discomfort and their will for change "in democracy, at the polls, and supporting a project with the ambition to face the reforms we need". "I will not fail them. National reconstruction begins here," he affirmed, after which the event concluded with applause from those present.

The leader of the PP closed his speech by assuring that, with his proposal, Spain can recover external credibility, pride, and the idea of a nation of free and equal citizens, in a speech in which he repeated on several occasions that his commitment is to fulfill each of the promises he has put on the table.
