Frente Amplio has clarified that there is no negotiation with the PSOE to maximize the electoral offer to the Congress for 29N, and has stressed that the only agreement closed with the socialists is limited to the Senate.
The clarification comes after the head of the list for Madrid in the general elections, Emilio Delgado, stated in an interview on TVE that contacts were underway with the PSOE to “optimize” the electoral results for the Cortes Generales. The candidacy has clarified that these words referred to the agreement with the socialists and other left-wing forces for the Upper House, within the framework of efforts to fit a joint list for the Senate.
The agreement, limited to the Upper House
Sources from the candidacy have insisted that there is no conversation with the PSOE about the electoral offer to the Congress, nor is that matter in the decision-making spaces of Frente Amplio, which on Friday assured its determination to present a candidacy throughout the country and “province by province.”
In the same vein, the federal coordinator of Izquierda Unida (IU) and spokesperson for Por Andalucía, Antonio Maíllo, has stated that the agreement reached between Frente Amplio and the PSOE for a unitary list in some provinces for the general elections on November 29 “is limited to the Senate.”
“The agreement that we had backed, an agreement that a civic platform has proposed and to which organizations of different nature in the Senate have obeyed, and that debate has not been opened in the Congress nor do I believe it is contemplated,” explained Antonio Maíllo this Wednesday at a press conference in the Andalusian Parliament.
