Junts denies contacts with the PP and rejects any attempt to place the pro-independence party within a specific political bloc. The party's spokesperson in Congress, Míriam Nogueras, assured this Monday that there has been no dialogue with the popular party and has claimed the autonomy of her party.
Nogueras has distanced herself from Alberto Núñez Feijóo's party and recalled that the PSOE has coincided in more votes with the PP than Junts during the current legislature. In her opinion, this circumstance demonstrates that Carles Puigdemont's party "is not in any bloc" ideologically and acts exclusively based on the interests of Catalonia.
Regarding the political situation of the Government, the pro-independence leader has once again defended the so-called "Starmer path," a proposal that suggests the replacement of Pedro Sánchez at the head of the Executive without the need to call early elections. However, she avoided pointing to any possible replacement.
"We don't care who," Nogueras stated, insisting that the relevant issue is not the name of a potential successor, but their ability to fulfill pending agreements with Catalonia. "Whoever comes must be someone who delivers," she reiterated.
Despite Sánchez having already ruled out leaving the Presidency of the Government, Nogueras maintained that the replacement proposal is still valid. "I don't know if the PSOE is more about saving Sánchez or saving the legislature," the Catalan said.
The leader also questioned the viability of the upcoming General State Budgets. Coinciding with the start of the Executive's procedures to prepare the public accounts, she described it as "science fiction" that they could go ahead and reiterated that Junts does not contemplate supporting them while Catalonia is still waiting to receive economic commitments corresponding to previous years.
