"The truth is that I have been offered to lie and in exchange I would not go to jail." Koldo García uttered those words on May 6, in his turn for a final statement before the Supreme Court, at the end of the mask case trial. In that plea, he pointed to the PP's lawyer and said that two media outlets had met with him to get him to lie. He did not identify the media at that time.
Six months later, Cadena SER publishes this Thursday, November 5, Koldo's version of those contacts. In statements from prison, the former advisor to José Luis Ábalos claims that he agreed with Alberto Durán, then the PP's lawyer in the case, that the Okdiario publishing company would cover his defense and that, under certain conditions, it would pay him an additional million euros. In exchange, he claims, he was to provide information to force the fall of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez. "Eduardo Inda was the PP's payer," Koldo assures. SER indicates that three other sources consulted by the station corroborate his story.
The SER information places the two meetings with Durán in May 2025, in an office in Madrid near the PP headquarters on Génova street. Koldo wanted to explore an agreement when the Supreme Court was investigating the contracts for sanitary material from the Ministry of Transport. Durán then led the popular accusation of the PP in that case. According to the sources cited by the station, the first meeting served to sound out an understanding and in the second, the bases of the alleged pact were set.
Koldo claims that he negotiated with Eduardo Inda, director of Okdiario, how the additional million would be distributed. According to his version, 300,000 euros would correspond to an interview in which he was to point out, "even lying," Pedro Sánchez, Begoña Gómez, and José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero. The content would then be taken to court to serve as a complaint. The remaining 700,000 euros would be justified as book rights. The former advisor also assures that Inda told him that he would recover that money through institutional advertising contracted by PP governments.
Okdiario published an interview with Ábalos and Koldo in November 2025 in which the former advisor made accusations about the financing of the PSOE primaries. According to the sources consulted by SER, his statements did not have the desired scope and the million euros were not paid. What was paid, according to the documentation published by the station, were the costs of his defense.
Alberto Durán and the PP deny Koldo's statements and assure they are false, according to SER. Eduardo Inda has not wanted to answer the station's questions.
The lawyer's invoices: 242,000 euros paid by Okdiario's publisher
This Thursday's revelation comes a week after Cadena SER published that Dos Mil Palabras, Okdiario's publishing company, had paid for Koldo García's defense. The information, signed by Pedro Jiménez on October 29, estimated the fees and expenses at 200,000 euros plus VAT, 242,000 euros in total.
According to SER, the publisher paid the lawyer Leticia de la Hoz a first payment of 181,500 euros, including VAT, in November 2025, the day after the interview was published. In January 2026, a second transfer of 60,500 euros was made, also with tax included. The concept of the invoices was "fees, tariffs and expenses for legal advice and procedures of Mr. D. Koldo García."
The two invoices and the transfer receipts were incorporated into the Leire case, which is being investigated by judge Santiago Pedraz in the Audiencia Nacional and in which De la Hoz is under investigation. One of the hypotheses being examined was whether the PSOE had paid for the defense to prevent Koldo from harming the party. According to the station, the lawyer handed over the documentation after being relieved of the duty of professional secrecy.
