The Minister of Health and leader of Más Madrid, Mónica García, has assured that she is willing to “whatever is necessary to stop the far-right” and also to “stop speculators”, although she has stressed that an eventual step forward does not depend on her, but on a consensus within the political space shared by Sumar and its allies.

García has stated: “I am willing to do whatever it takes but it does not depend on me, it depends on a consensus, it depends on a space that we have created with great care, with great work and with great care and with great respect, above all”.

The leadership of the new left-wing project, still to be resolved

The leader of Más Madrid has gained strength in the electoral polls as a possible candidate for the new “Broad Front” project, promoted together with IU, Comuns and Movimiento Sumar, an option that, however, coexists with the difficulty that she was already proclaimed as head of the list for the Madrid elections in 2027.

Mónica García has explained that in the coming days the unknown about who will hold the electoral leadership will be cleared, and has placed the event on October 17 as the launch of that coalition, which they want to open to other parliamentary allies. “We will not disappoint and we will heed the social clamor,” she affirmed, before adding that her party will be “rowing” for that candidacy of the alternative left.

Pedro Sánchez's reading of the early election

In another vein, the Minister of Health has said that she understands the decision of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to bring forward the elections, considering that the rejection of the housing decrees represented a “turning point” and was serious enough to call for elections.

As she has recounted, Pedro Sánchez informed them this Monday of the early election, although during the weekend they already perceived “rumors” that this could be his decision. In addition, she specified that on Friday they already conveyed to the president that they were not afraid of an election.
