The Más Madrid Ethics Committee has dismissed the internal complaint for alleged workplace harassment directed against deputy Tesh Sidi, number two on the Frente Amplio candidacy list for Congress for Madrid in the general elections on November 29.

The party explains that it received an anonymous letter and that it requested the identification of those who submitted it in order to continue with the procedure. According to party sources, this request was not met, so the internal body decided not to admit it for processing.

Sidi has rejected the accusations in an appearance this Tuesday in Congress and has announced that she will go to court for alleged libel and slander. The parliamentarian maintains that she has been the victim of a defamation campaign and wants justice to investigate who is behind it.

"The reputational damage has been enormous, it has been brutal," said the deputy, who assured that the behaviors attributed to her do not represent her and defended her intention to publicly restore her image.

Más Madrid explains why it is not processing the letter

The controversy began after information was published about a letter in which Sidi was attributed alleged workplace harassment behaviors towards members of her team. The deputy recalled that these news items appeared a few days after her position in the Frente Amplio candidacy for Madrid was announced.

According to the version provided by Más Madrid, the document arrived anonymously at the Ethics Committee and the necessary identification to follow the internal channel of the party was not subsequently completed. For this reason, the party considers that a complaint was not formally filed with that body.

The decision refers, therefore, to the admission and processing of the letter. By not continuing the internal procedure, there has been no resolution from the committee on the merits of the accusations.

Sidi explained that, upon learning of the information, she contacted the body responsible for these matters in her party to ask about the facts and the identity of those who had approached it. "I can guarantee you that there is no case, that there are no complainants," she declared this Tuesday to journalists.

The deputy believes that people who remain anonymous have promoted a false narrative about her and have gone to the media to harm her. In response, she has defended that it should be the Justice system that investigates the origin of the accusations and determines if there are responsibilities.

"I myself have initiated legal actions," said Sidi, who has announced her intention to act through criminal proceedings. In her speech, she maintained that the accusations have had a personal and public effect and recalled that she has also received death threats during her time in Congress, facts that, as she explained, are in the hands of the Prosecutor's Office.

The parliamentarian has also linked what happened to the exposure suffered by women with public responsibilities and to her Sahrawi origin. "We are very used to being in the crosshairs of hatred and discredit," she noted.

A Frente Amplio candidate for 29N

Más Madrid's decision comes in the midst of the election pre-campaign and affects one of the visible faces of the candidacy led by Ada Colau. Sidi occupies the second position for Madrid, behind Emilio Delgado, on a list that brings together representatives of different formations from the space to the left of the PSOE.

The deputy arrived in Congress in 2023 as part of the Sumar candidacy and has been one of Más Madrid's leaders with the greatest presence in the national political debate. Her position on the ballot for November 29 confirms the weight that the Madrid formation wants to maintain in the new electoral project.

Frente Amplio brings together, among others, Más Madrid, Izquierda Unida, Movimiento Sumar and Comuns, while Podemos will run separately in a large part of the country. This division marks the preparation of the elections and forces Colau's coalition to defend its space against the PSOE and the rest of the left-wing candidacies.

The average of polls from DatosRTVE updated to November 2 projected 11 seats for Frente Amplio, including the different territorial coalition formulas included in the calculation. The comparison with the 31 deputies obtained by Sumar in 2023 must take into account that Podemos was then part of that candidacy.

Madrid will be a relevant constituency for the representation of the new space. Sidi's position places her at the forefront of the campaign, at a time when Frente Amplio seeks to mobilize its electorate and consolidate a shared candidacy after months of negotiations between parties.

The political space has also been going through other internal tensions. In July, the then coordinator of Movimiento Sumar, Lara Hernández, resigned from her positions after an internal file for alleged workplace harassment was closed. Hernández denied the accusations and denounced a smear campaign.

These are different procedures, in different organizations and with their own circumstances. In Hernández's case, a file was opened and subsequently closed; in Sidi's case, Más Madrid maintains that the document has not been admitted due to lack of identification of its authors.
