The PP confirms its attendance at the Childhood Commission on the distribution of minors despite not being "in agreement with the Government's policies"

The Sectoral Commission for Children and Adolescents meets this Thursday as a preliminary step to the Sectoral Conference scheduled for the end of August, which will address the distribution among the autonomous communities of the 1,342 unaccompanied foreign minors currently in Ceuta. In this regard, the Popular Party has announced that it will attend the meeting.

This was conveyed by the deputy secretary of Autonomous, Municipal and Electoral Analysis Policy of the PP, Elías Bendodo, who confirmed the attendance of the 'populares' despite not being "in agreement with the Government's policies" on immigration matters.

However, the far-right party Vox has denied that they will attend the meeting. The vice-presidents of Extremadura, Aragon and Castilla y León who have powers in immigration matters, Óscar Fernández, Alejandro Nolasco and Carlos Pollán, have informed the Minister of Youth and Children, Sira Rego, that they will not attend the meeting and have thus formalized their rejection of the reception of these minors in their respective communities.

In the letters sent, the Vox representatives consider the call to be "untimely" because, in their opinion, before addressing the territorial distribution, the "individualized files" corresponding to each minor must be completed. "This autonomous community cannot accept the transfer of unaccompanied foreign minors from Ceuta," they state while demanding that "the prior processing and resolution of the legally required individualized procedures to determine their legal situation by means of a firm resolution" be accredited.

Furthermore, they argue that these procedures should end with the "return to Morocco" of the minors. In the same vein, the vice-presidents also announce that they will appeal to the courts any file that does not end with the "return" of the minor to the neighboring country.

The communities governed by the PP will "comply with the law"

The deputy secretary of Autonomous, Municipal and Electoral Analysis Policy of the PP, also cleared up doubts about whether the PP will participate in the reception of unaccompanied migrant minors who are in Ceuta after the massive entry of people on July 31.

In this regard, the 'popular' at a press conference in Malaga assured that regional governments will comply "with the law". "In the documents signed in the autonomous communities with governments between PP and Vox, it was stated that they will comply with the law on irregular immigration, the current legislation will be complied with, this time too," he affirmed.

On the other hand, he stated: "The Government is the one that has to resolve this situation". Likewise, he demanded that "it not pass the buck to the communities" because he stated that "it is a problem of security and immigration caused by this Government." 

"From the Popular Party, what we say is that all those who have entered illegally, legally have to leave," he concluded, reiterating that the party "will comply with the law." 

The deputy secretary of Sectoral Coordination of the PP, Alma Excurra, also distanced herself from Vox's anti-discourse, stating that, "Mr. Abascal is free to express his opinions and political ideas as he deems appropriate. We do not express ourselves in those terms and we will never do so," she remarked in an interview on 'Onda Cero'.
