The Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Function, Óscar López, has questioned the choice of the deputy of the Popular Party (PP), Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, as number two on the list for Congress for Madrid, behind Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and has interpreted this move as a message of "radicalism".
In an interview on RNE, López resorted to a football comparison to describe the popular leader's strategy, pointing out that Feijóo "has strengthened the right wing and is abandoning the midfield," a statement that, in his opinion, represents "a declaration of intentions" and the "confirmation of the radicalism" of the main opposition party.
Feijóo, Álvarez de Toledo and the message of the candidacy
The minister insisted that the designation of the number two on the list is not a minor detail, because whoever occupies that position accompanies the candidate for President of the Government and, therefore, transmits "a very powerful message of radicalism."
Óscar López also referred to the next name on the list, the PP spokesperson, Borja Sémper, who will be number three, and admitted that he "has a different temperament," although he reproached him for now saying different things from what he defended when he was outside the party.
The PSOE also attacks Borja Sémper
For her part, the Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, Rebeca Torró, has attacked Borja Sémper after his inclusion in the Madrid candidacy and recalled that "he was the champion of moderation and then we have seen the complete opposite." Regarding Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, Torró maintained that she has only offered "insult, lies" and stated that she does not expect her to contribute much more to citizens.
