The head of the Vox delegation in the European Parliament, Jorge Buxadé, has announced that the concept of "national priority" and a "reduction of the State", with a "brutal reduction of ministries", would be part of hypothetical negotiations with the Partido Popular (PP) in case both formations achieved a majority after the general elections on November 29.

In statements to RNE, Jorge Buxadé defended that Vox will address "national priority" with the PP within the framework of a possible government negotiation, a formula that, he recalled, has already been applied in the regional governments shared by both formations. "It is a common sense political idea and it is the guarantee of the social state," he maintained.

The leader of Vox stated that the social state "that our elders and our parents have built is in a situation of collapse", and insisted that money and public goods are "scarce", so, in his opinion, distribution criteria must be applied. "Until now, the criterion applied is that the last one to arrive takes it. And we understand that another criterion should be applied in the distribution of public goods which are, unfortunately, scarce," said Buxadé, who also defended the "foreigner who resides, works and contributes" in Spain and who, he specified, "neither commits crimes nor lives off public aid".

Criticism of Sánchez's Government structure

Buxadé also advocated for a "brutal reduction of ministries and all administrative structures" of Pedro Sánchez's Government, whom he accused of having broken "all historical records" by appointing people with "finger-picked contracts". In his opinion, it cannot be allowed that "the State administration has multiplied by a thousand" while "Spaniards are suffering to fill their shopping baskets".

"We must reduce the State, we must manage better (...) the money of Spaniards belongs to Spaniards," reiterated the Vox leader, before insisting on the need for a "major restructuring of ministerial departments," in which, he said, it will be necessary to analyze "who has done good things and who has done bad things."

The agreement in the Senate, unlinked from government negotiation

Finally, Jorge Buxadé has delinked the agreement with the PP in the Senate from future conversations to form a government at the national level. "It was an act of responsibility, of broad-mindedness, in the face of the coalition set up by Pedro Sánchez with the most extremist left in Europe," he added.
