The president of the Popular Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, will meet this Friday at 11:30 AM with experts in infrastructure and railway services at the national headquarters of the party, in Madrid, as reported by the PP in a statement.

He will be accompanied at the meeting by the deputy secretary of Sectorial of the PP, Alma Ezcurra, and by the deputy secretary of Treasury, Housing and Infrastructure, Juan Bravo, in a meeting that takes place just two days after the railway accident recorded in Urda (Toledo).

The accident occurred this Wednesday, when a Renfe AVE train ran over an Iryo train that was stopped on the track after an LZB system failure, an accident that resulted in the death of at least 69 people, according to the information provided.

Feijóo points to political responsibilities

This Thursday, from the Urda Town Hall Square, after visiting the advanced command post set up due to the accident, Alberto Núñez Feijóo maintained that the political responsibilities derived from the accident are “demanding” and “essential”, and stressed that one cannot wait for the investigation to close to assume them.

“I have said that political responsibilities cannot wait for an investigation, whether administrative or judicial. Political responsibilities are not optional, they are demanding, ethically and morally,” affirmed the leader of the PP, who also placed the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, at the center of his criticism, after “more than one hundred deaths” in two accidents that occurred in the same railway corridor, although without explicitly asking for his resignation.

Alberto Núñez Feijóo also recalled government precedents after the Adamuz (Córdoba) accident, which occurred last January, and the blackout recorded in April 2025, within an intervention in which he insisted that the political response should not be subordinated to the progress of judicial or administrative investigations.
