The candidacies of Frente Amplio to the Congress for the general elections of 29N have finished shaping the internal map of forces of the coalition, in which Izquierda Unida (IU) will have 29 heads of list, compared to the six constituencies that Movimiento Sumar will lead, the four that correspond to los Comuns in Catalonia and the two that the Chunta Aragonesista (CHA) will head, after renouncing to present a ballot in the province of Teruel.

The definitive composition of the distribution was closed this Monday, after the list of aspirants to the Congress and the Senate was registered before the Junta Electoral, a procedure that finished fixing the weight of each organization within the common candidacy. Frente Amplio also confirmed that it will present candidates throughout the territory, with the sole exception of Teruel, a decision that again strained the relationship between CHA and IU.

Madrid, one of the main showcases of the internal agreement

In Madrid, the distribution was already defined previously and the list is headed by Más Madrid, with Emilio Delgado in the first position and Tesh Sidi in the second. They are joined by the councilor of the formation in the City Council of the capital, Eduardo Fernández Rubiño, while the candidacy also includes the electoral referent of IU for these elections, Toni Valero, and the coordinator of Movimiento Sumar and spokesperson in the Congress of the plurinational group, Verónica Barbero, in third and fourth position, respectively. The leader of Verdes Equo, María Pastor, occupies the sixth position.

IU, as the main state-level organization of the new coalition with territorial implementation throughout the country, reserves the first positions in seven constituencies of Andalusia, in the two of Extremadura, in the five of Castilla-La Mancha and in eight of Castilla y León. In addition, it will head the lists of Frente Amplio in Navarra, Murcia, Cantabria, La Rioja and Asturias, as well as in the Basque constituencies of Guipúzcoa and Álava.

Sumar, Comuns, Compromís and CHA close the rest of the distribution

For its part, Movimiento Sumar will hold the number one in Cádiz, Vizcaya, Valladolid, Coruña, Pontevedra and Tenerife. In Canarias, Nuevas Canarias keeps the head of the list of the coalition candidacy Unión del Pueblo Canario, which groups Frente Amplio and also Podemos.

In Catalonia, los Comuns lead the four provinces, with Ada Colau as the candidate for Moncloa in the first position for Barcelona, flanked by minister Ernest Urtasun in second place. In Baleares, Ara Més heads the list that will finally be a unity list, after the agreement reached with Podemos to run as independents in the number three position within the joint candidacy with Frente Amplio.

In the Valencian Community, the unity list grants the first two positions in Valencia and the head of the list in Castellón to Compromís, while the first position in Alicante is held by Podemos and IU is in the third place of the Valencian constituency. For its part, CHA has the heads of the list in Zaragoza and Huesca, and decided to withdraw from Teruel to leave the field of progressive vote to the PSOE and thus maximize the option of snatching seats from the right.

The decision of the Aragonese formation met with opposition from IU, although it was finally accepted upon recognizing that CHA had the power of decision over which constituencies the coalition would run in Aragon. In addition, Recortes Cero, one of the formations integrated into Frente Amplio, will have the head of the list in Orense.

Podemos will run with its own list in most constituencies

In the case of Podemos, the formation will run with its own list for the Congress in most constituencies, after the electoral fracture with Frente Amplio was consummated. Exceptions include Canarias, Valencian Community, Baleares and also Catalonia, where it renounces to present a candidacy to integrate as an independent in the lists of ERC, in positions six and ten for Barcelona.

The purples will present a candidacy in Teruel and in another 41 constituencies, with the most notable case being the Madrid list, which will be led by the former Minister of Equality and main electoral reference of the party, Irene Montero, in a candidacy that will compete directly with Frente Amplio.
