The Popular Party has maintained that the kiss given last Saturday at a PSOE rally by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and his wife, Begoña Gómez, reproduces the campaign strategy used by former Argentine president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in 2011.
Pedro Sánchez attended the PSOE electoral event in Fuenlabrada (Madrid) accompanied by Begoña Gómez, who will stand trial for alleged crimes of embezzlement and influence peddling. From the podium, the head of the Executive sent a message to the attendees, amidst the applause of socialist members: “They have tried to break us and we are stronger. I love you.”
Ester Muñoz's criticism from Congress
The spokesperson for the Popular Group in Congress, Ester Muñoz, has criticized the socialist staging in a message published on the social network X, reported by Europa Press. “Same campaign as the Peronist Cristina Kirchner in 2011. It's faker than Judas,” she stated.
Muñoz recalled an image of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in 2011 kissing her husband, next to the slogan “The strength of love.” The popular leader added: “With Sánchez everything is a lie, always. Even his love. It's all faker than Ábalos' niece.”
Xavier García Albiol speaks of "theater" by the PSOE
For his part, the PP candidate for Congress for Barcelona and mayor of Badalona, Xavier García Albiol, has stated that the PSOE only offers “theater” with kisses with his wife, while the PP of Alberto Núñez Feijóo presents projects and initiatives, such as a Law against Squatting.
In an interview on Telecinco, Albiol pointed out that if the PSOE's offer in a general election “is limited to pity” and “kissing his wife,” “how little they can offer” to citizens.
PP montages on social media with Sánchez and Ábalos
The PP already disseminated this Sunday on social media a montage generated through Artificial Intelligence of the President of the Government and his former Minister of Transport, José Luis Ábalos, in which both appear embracing and kissing. The party accompanied the image with the message: “The campaign photo.”
The popular party, very active on social media ahead of the general elections on November 29, also published this Monday on its official account another photograph of Ábalos with his partner Jésica, along with the slogan “The strength of love.” Below that image, the party ironized: “The only socialist who has done something for young people's access to housing,” in allusion to the rent of the home that the former minister paid to his then-partner.
