The Partido Popular has accepted that the debate on housing between the minister of the sector, Isabel Rodríguez, and the deputy secretary of Treasury, Housing and Infrastructures of the PP, Juan Bravo, be held on Cadena SER, although at the same time it has called on the PSOE to confirm the attendance of its candidate, Pedro Sánchez, to the other three debates proposed before the general elections on November 29.
According to the popular leadership, on October 9 it already communicated that it accepted the debates proposed by Mediaset, with a face-to-face between Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Pedro Sánchez, by Atresmedia, with the candidates of PP, PSOE, Vox and those who “inherit the electoral rights of the Sumar brand”, and by RTVE, in a debate between the spokespersons of the groups with representation in the Congress.
The PP demands an express confirmation from the PSOE
The popular party maintains that almost two weeks have passed and that “there is no record of acceptance by the socialist candidate”, so they have asked the campaign team of the PSOE to “confirm the attendance of Pedro Sánchez to be able to establish the pertinent conversations with the communication groups and start working on the organization of the spaces”, as indicated by the party in a statement.
The housing debate, proposed by letter
This Wednesday, the general secretary of the PP and campaign director of the formation, Miguel Tellado, sent a letter to the former vice president of the Government and head of strategy of the PSOE, María Jesús Montero, proposing a “face-to-face” debate on housing between Isabel Rodríguez and Juan Bravo.
Tellado justified the initiative by assuring that housing was “the alibi” of the head of the Executive to advance the general elections, and added in the letter that “no one would understand” a refusal by the PSOE to debate to explain “the policies that Pedro Sánchez intends to continue for another four years”.
This Thursday, the Secretary of Organization and spokesperson for the PSOE, Rebeca Torró, has confirmed that her party would accept debating on housing. “We will have no problem sitting down,” she said, although she asked the PP to let the media be in charge of organizing the debates for the general election campaign.
The PP responds to the offer and ironizes about 'La Revuelta'
The Partido Popular has indicated that Rebeca Torró accepts this debate between Isabel Rodríguez and Juan Bravo “as long as it is on Cadena SER” and has replied: “We accept: we await the details.”
After Pedro Sánchez accepted the invitation to the program La Revuelta tonight, the PP said, ironically, that “it is good that the President of the Government has the courage to ‘face’ a tough and hostile interview like the one he will have tonight,” although he stressed that “it would be good if he confirms as soon as possible that, in addition to with Broncano, he is also willing to face Feijóo in a format where the moderator is not Francina Armengol.”
